Cleveland Landmarks Commission Issues Certificate of Appropriateness for Deconstruction of Fifth Church of Christ, Scientist

At a 3.5 hours session on Thursday, May 22, 2014, the Cleveland Landmarks Commission voted unanimously to grant a Certificate of Appropriateness for the deconstruction of the iconic but badly deteriorated Fifth Church of Christ, Scientist that will make way for the construction of new townhomes along Lake Avenue utilizing reclaimed materials from the  Church and development of the Market District Express store on Clifton Boulevard. A great deal of thanks to Councilman Matt Zone for his leadership on this critical project.

Helping Hands Knitting Group Seeking Volunteers

If you would like to lend your skills or learn new ones, join the Helping Hands Knitting Group that knits and crochets hats and scarves for neighborhood children.  All materials are provided - thanks to a generous Neighborhood Connections grant.  The group meets at Cudell Improvement, Inc., 9821 Lorain from 5 - 7 PM each Monday.   Call Birgit at 216.631.7233 or Jeanette at 216.228.4383 for details.

Cleveland Lumber Hosts Sustainability Day

On Saturday, May 31st, the public is invited to Cleveland Lumber for It's Time to Go Green with Cleveland Lumber.  An ideal opportunity to learn all about the solar panels they installed last year and see lots of energy saving products showcased.  Also, once there, you will receive an invitation to visit a local home that has taken some energy saving steps of their own - with solar panels and a green driveway.  The event at Cleveland Lumber runs from 11 - 1 PM.

Casino Royale Tickets Available for Detroit Avenue Merchants' Fundraiser

The Detroit Avenue Merchants' Association is proud to present Billy Donato from the World Famous Tropicana in Las Vegas at its fundraiser on Sunday, June 1st from 5 - 9 PM at Brothers Lounge.  A $25 donation covers the live show, snacks - cash bar available.  Call 216.228.4383 to purchase/charge tickets.
