Neighbors in the News

Have you heard?  Neighbor James Barnwell was in the graduating class for the Citizen's Police Academy on April 10th.  Congratulations to James.  Cudell Staffer Jeff Barkas successfully finished the Neighborhood Leadership Development Program.  That's a good set of skills that Jeff has gained.  Also, we hope many of you saw the Clifton Boulevard fashion plate, Maurice Christopher, owner of Christophier Custom Clothier, on Fox 8 this week with Kenny Crumpton.  Maurice helped Kenny present some fashionalbe accessories to Wayne Dawson on his birthday.  Maurice's inventory would make any man swoon!

The Secret Lives of Good Garden Bugs!

Did you think only Walter Mitty had a secret life?  Well, according to OSU, garden bugs do too!  Register now for the workshop where you will learn all about the benefits of good bugs in your garden.  Several locations, pre-registration required, fee applies.  Go to for all the info.

27th Annual Clifton Arts & Musicfest - LIVE on the EDGE

The artists are judged and the performers are signed.  Another fun filled day is planned so mark your calendar for Saturday, June 21st from 10 AM - 6 PM on Clifton Boulevard.  A little construction is not going to stop the party!  Delicious food, Weber's Ice Cream, retailer specials, kid's events.  Art, live music, sunshine and people-watching.  See you there!

Master Gardener Program Announced

Interested individuals can attend an informational session on May 13th at Fairview Park Library, 21250 Lorain Avenue at 7 PM to learn all about the Master Gardener's Program that begins its sessions in late summer.  Go to for further information and registration. 

Veteran Employment Stand Down

Helping Veterans Reach Their Goals.  They served our country, now let's help them. Learn how you can participate by contacting Angela Cash 216.664.2876 or  The event will be held at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center on May 12 from 10 -2.  Free lunch to vets participating. 

Curbside Coffee Music Line Up

Judy Fitch, owner, invites everyone to "come on in" and join the fun at Curbside Coffee, 9858 Lorain.  Bluegrass Music - Tuesday, 7 PM; 50/60's Music, Wednesday, 6 PM; Country Music, Thursday, 6 PM; Karaoke, Saturday, Noon - 5 PM; Gospel Music, last Friday of every month, 7 PM.  Something for everyone!   Starting Monday, June 9th, OPEN MIC NIGHT  on the second Monday of every month at 7 PM.  Singer and songwriters welcome.  

Lorain Station Flea Market

The Flea Market will be in full swing starting Saturday May 3 and continuing on the first and third Saturdays of each month until October at 9830 Lorain Avenue. Vendors $5 set-up; shoppers free admission.  Set up begins at 7 AM, shopping at 8 AM.  Fresh garden produce from local sources during the growing season.

Pharmacy Tech Training Available

Those 18 years of age or older may qualify for 38 weeks of quality academic and clinical training to become a Pharmacy Tech.   No previous healthcare or pharmacy experience required.  Scholarships provided for all accepted into the program. Must have a high school diploma or GED.  Must pass a complete fingerprint background check.  Apply online at
