Ward 16 County Council District 3 Community Forum

Citizens are cordially invited to hear presentations from all the County Council District 3 candidates on Tuesday evening, August  17th from 6:30 - 8:30 PM at Kirby Manor, 11500 Detroit Avenue.  Light refreshments will be served.  Call Angela at 216.832.1896 for further information/questions.  All candidates are invited (Faouzi Baddour, Dan Brady, Nelson Cintron, Alan Crossman, Patty Gascoyne, Chip Joseph, Chris Ronayne), Please take time to be an informed voter for this important decision for our neighborhood's future. 

 Cooperative Housing Study Underway

Thanks to generous funding from Neighborhood Progress, Inc., (NPI), Cudell Improvement, Inc. and its collaborators (Bellaire Puritas Development Corporation, Westown Development Corporation, EDEN, Inc., Catholic Charities Facilities Corporation and Cleveland Action to Support Housing) have retained the services of Laura Junglas (The Org Doc).  Ms Junglas will research cooperative housing models in other states, as well as locally, to determine the feasibility of bringing this model to Cleveland.  The benefits of cooperative housing can be  many - lower cost home ownership, professional management and maintenance, easier sale of asset when desired, etc.   Watch for research results later this year.

CMSD Back to School Fair & Forum

The Cleveland Metropolitan School District invites you to join to a Fair & Forum on Saturday, August 14 at Lincoln-West High School, 3202 West 30th Street from 8 AM - 3 PM.  The event includes free breakfast and lunch, free school supplies to students attending at 9 AM, free books for home libraries, free raffle drawings, free games/prizes and free child care for ages 4 - 11 from 8 AM - Noon.  Other activities as well.

Yard Charge 2010

For the 8th year in a row, the Greater Cleveland Council of the Boy Scouts of America will organize scout troops to rake the yards of Cleveland seniors.  They will be raking leaves for 800 seniors in the city of Cleveland.  A few spots are still open.  If you or a senior you know needs their yard raked, please have then call Dolores Alexander, Chore Supervisor at  216.664.3998 to register.  Raking will take place on November 13, 2010. 

Dancin' in the Streets!

More news on Dancin' in the Streets - Saturday, August 21 from 8 PM - 1 AM.  The event takes place on Clifton Blvd. between West 116th and West 117th.  Organizers report there will be 4 DJ's, five food vendors and several live "spotlight" performances.  Lots of giveaways, also.  Tickets are $10 in advance at Twist Social Club or $15 at the gate.
