Help Available Application deadline for the next round of Neighborhood Connections funding is Friday, August 13th at 5 PM. If your small group is thinking about applying, it is strongly recommended that you attend a grantseeker workshop to learn more about the NC program and how to complete an application. One on one assistance is also available. Go to www.neighborhoodgrants.org or call 216.393.4642 for further information. Neighborhood Connections is a project of the Cleveland Foundation. National Night Out Against Crime On Tuesday, August 3rd at Cudell Commons, the Ward 16 community will celebrate National Night Out Against Crime. It is our community's way of saying, "Our community is safe, strong and united against crime." Watch for flyers on the event coming soon. The Cudell neighborhood has celebrated National Night Out Against Crime longer than any other community in the Cleveland area. Enhance Clifton Public Meeting Scheduled On Thursday, August 5, 2010, a meeting will be held to update the public on the progress of the Enhance Clifton streetscape and transit improvement project. All are invited to attend at Kirby Manor, 11500 Detroit Avenue at 6 PM in the community room. Look for signs directing visitors to the West 114th Street entrance. Call 216.228.4383 or 216.664.4230 or visit www.EnhanceClifton.com for more information. Beware - TV ad for free credit report is misleading Your "free credit report" will cost you if you don't watch out. While consumers can get one free credit report annually from each of the three credit bureaus (not credit scores), FreeCreditReport.com is not free! If you go to the company's site and focus on the large yellow button that says, "Click here to see your Free Credit Report and Score" you might miss the smaller print to the left that says when you order your free report, you are automatically enrolled in the site's credit-monitoring service. The fee: $179 per year! Consumer Reports suggests that you order your truly free credit reports (one every four months from each of the three credit bureaus) from Experian, Equifax and TransUnion thereby effectively checking your credit report three times a year free of charge. Community Health Fair Coming Soon Mark your calendar for free health screenings and other health related information at the Community Health Fair scheduled for Saturday, July 31, 2010 on West 111 and Detroit Avenue. More details in the next edition of Snippets. |
