Home Sold at 1305 West 105

Cudell Improvement, Inc. is pleased to announce that the big eyesore that once stood at 1305 West 105 has been transformed into a stunning single family home.  Vacant and abandoned for more than five years, the outdated two family home has become a showplace in the Clifton Boulevard area.  Cudell Improvement bought the home from the city of Cleveland under HUD's Good Neighbor Program and utilized the services of Kapczuk & Associates Architects and Krueger & Grealis General Contractors to develop this beautiful family home.  Before and After photos will be available soon on Cudell Facebook page.

Mentoring Opportunity

If you are looking for a way to reach out and help a child, here it is.  The Experience Corps is looking for adult mentors to spend lunch time once or twice a week with a 4th grader to support and encourage their improved academic attitude, social skills and self esteem.  Additionally, the Experience Corps needs tutors to work one on one with children in grades K - 3 twice a week to focus on basic reading skills.  Call Carol Hasek at 216.391.9500, ext. 125 to offer help.

Getting & Staying on Track with Money: the Hidden Secrets

Jay Seaton of Consumer Credit Counselling will be presenting a fun and informative workshop on empowering your  financial management decisions.  The presentation is Thursday, July 8 from 6 - 8 PM at 9815 Lorain Avenue. (Cudell Improvement meeting space).  Reservations are a must.  Space is limited.  Call Linda at 216.228.4383 to register.  There will be refreshments and a door prize.  Financial support for this presentation is from PNC.

Dan Shingler Wins Top Awards at Crain's

Neighborhood resident Dan Shingler, manufacturing reporter for Crain's Cleveland Business, swept the general news awards category in the annual Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards.  Mr. Shingler won first place for "An eye on spying" and second place for a story on how the prospects for more jobs at a local Ford plant were at - risk.  Congratulations, Dan!

Safe Recyclig of Computers

Looking to recycle your computers and other electronic waste?  Then contact RET3 Job Corp.  RET3 provides secure recycling of your computer equipment.  This local non-profit computer recycler located in Cleveland donated over 8,000 computers to 200 schools and nfp in NE Ohio in 2009.  RET3 will electronically remove all the data from your computer before refurbishing or recycling the components.  Workers also receive on the job training.  Call 216.361.9991 and ask to speak with Ken or Kenny or visit www.ret3.org.

Free Produce Distribution Sites

Tammy Hanna of the city of Cleveland's Department of Community Relations reports that the following locations are distributing free produce and fruits this summer:  St. Lukes, 1349 West 78 St. - 2nd and 4th Mondays from 6 - 8  PM; May Dugan Center, 4115 Bridge Avenue - 4th Wednesday from !0 - Noon; WSEM, 5209 Detroit Avenue - 2nd Monday from 3 - 5 PM; and Trinity Lutheran, 16400 Detroit - 3rd Wednesday, 11- 1 PM.
