Grand Opening of So Help Me! Bookstore Aletia Howard invites all our friends and neighbors to the Grand Opening of her new and used bookstore at 11102 Detroit Avenue. The event is Saturday, March 20, 2010 from 11 AM - 6:30 PM. Stop by to see what interesting selections she has. The shop is closed on Sunday and Monday of each week. Clifton Martini and Wine Bar Now Open Jeff Rumplik, owner, invites all to stop at his snazzy new establishment at 10427 Clifton Blvd. for a leisurely drink and some interesting menu items. See the PD article in the Friday Magazine restaurant section. Jeff's new sign is with the assistance of Cudell 's Storefront Renovation Program. Thanks to Jim Pressler, Cudell's Special Programs Manager, for another great job on this project. Biofuel Garden in the planning Thanks to an idea shared by a garden fanatic and a grant from Neighborhood Progress, Inc., Cudell Improvement, Inc. will be working with the Earth Day Coalition to grow a biofuel garden on a site Cudell owns at West 105 and Madison Avenue. The planting of sunflowers in the biofuel garden offers two benefits. The leaves of the sunflowers extract hazardous contaminants from the soil (phytoremediation) and the sun flower seeds will be ground at harvest to produce fuel oil. The seeds will be ground using a bicycle powered tool and volunteer labor. Free Paint Program on the Horizon The recent warm weather has brought the Paint Program to mind as many people want to be part of the community "fix-up" movement. Cudell's Housing staff, Jan Kappenhagen and Michael Wise, will be glad to take your name and number so they may contact you when the applications arrive in late April. Call Jan or Michael at 216.281.2646 at Cudell's Denison office. | |
